Membership - Held a membership recruitment at the Tommie Allen Recreation Center. Recruited new members who were inducted into the award-winning South Dallas Youth Club at the September Club meeting.

Activism - Participated in Operation Transformation - Community Clean-up. We went throughout the Overton Road neighborhood picking up trash to help beautify the community.

Preparedness/Professionalism - Eight members of the South Dallas Youth Club attended South Central District Youth Mini Conference at Richland College. Governor Beverly Collymore briefed us on college funding sources and five (5) great motivational speakers presented:
- Simple Parliamentary Procedures – City of Garland Mayor Ronald Jones
- Running a Successful Campaign – Dr. Peggy Jones, Wife of Mayor Jones
- “I Wish I Had Waited” – Author and Playwright Sylvia Lett
- Educational Opportunities at Richland College-Delores Elder-Jones
- Against All Odds – Shane Hefner, CEO-Black Business Directory
A visual presentation entitled “The Audacity of Hope” on the life of President-elect Barack Obama was very inspiring!

Serving Our Community - Visited residents of the Windsor Place Nursing Home. Distributed 67 pairs of white cotton socks and sang Christmas carols with them in the Arts and Crafts room of the facility.

Cultural Awareness - Held our Kwanzaa Celebration at the Tommie Allen Recreation Center. A total of 33 parents, siblings, friends and Club members participated in our ceremony on the seven (7) principles of Kwanzaa. Afterwards, a festive meal was enjoyed by all in attendance!

Education - NANBPWC Historical Background CHALLENGE!
Held contest among Club members to test their knowledge of the Association’s history: The Collect, The National Pledge; History of the NANBPWC: History of the South Dallas B&PW Club, Inc.; names of National, District, and local officers of the organization; history of the V, Alyce Foster Trailblazer Awards Luncheon; Founder’s Day; one of the Youth even recited the historical “Ain’t I A Woman” speech from our national Legend, none other than Sojourner Truth! Monetary awards in the amount of $25.00; $15.00 and $10.00 were given to the 1st; 2nd and 3rd place winners, respectively.

Preparedness/Professionalism - Officers of the South Dallas Club attended the SCD Youth Leadership Workshop. “The purpose of this workshop was to discuss the qualities and responsibilities of a leader and to help the youth who have been selected as officers to understand the importance of being a leader. It i was also designed to strengthen their leadership abilities in their current roles or any future leadership roles they may assume.”

Activism - Participated in the 20th annual Martin Luther King Parade and March sponsored by the NAACP in Garland, Texas. Attended their MLK Commemorative Program where the Elder Albert Baker delivered the historical “I Have A Dream” speech of Dr. King.

Preparedness/Professionalism; Activism; Cultural Awareness, and *Education - Compete in SCD Banner Parade and Suitcase Players Skit Competitions. Display individual talents between performances; go on educational and historical tours in Little Rock, Arkansas; participate in youth team-building and leadership activities.

Education - 46th V. Alyce Foster Trailblazer Awards Luncheon - Learn of the rich history of the South Dallas Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc., and their volunteer accomplishments in the Dallas community for the 2008 – 2009 Club year. Witness distinguished members of the Metroplex being recognized for their outstanding contributions to the community, and high school seniors receiving thousands of dollars in scholarship funding.

Education - Mathematics Workshop - Account Executives from URS Corporation and Countrywide Mortgage will conduct a math symposium – demonstrating the importance of math skills in engineering and human resource business professions in the global market.

Activism - ARTS AND CRAFTS WORKSHOP - PRESENTATATION to the ADULT CLUB
Club members will prepare Mother’s Day cards for the South Dallas Adult Club members and distribute them at their May 2008 Club meeting.

Activism / Membership - Celebrate the accomplishments of the Club year. Showcase the high school seniors in the Club. Present an upscale style show, modeling fun, casual, dress and career fashions for the 21st century youth. Invite classmates, relatives and friends to attend and solicit their memberships in the South Dallas Youth Club.
